Welcome to the Alliance for Cultural Democracy homepage on the World Wide Web. The Alliance for Cultural Democracy (ACD) is an international organization of community and cultural organizers from throughout the United States and around the world.

ACD is a membership organization, supported soley through the contributions and efforts of its members. As an organization, we:

• Publish a quarterly magazine CULTURAL DEMOCRACY.

• Publish a MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY of artists/activists/organizers from the United States and around the world.

• Hold yearly REGIONAL CONFERENCES and BI-ANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCES which bring together cultural organizers and activists from throughout the U.S. as well as visiting members from other countries.

• NETWORK AND COORDINATE for various MEMBER CAMPAIGNS, such as the 1992 COUNTER QUINCENTENNIAL.

• Promote the DRAFT FOR A DECLARATION OF CULTURAL HUMAN RIGHTS, a document we are inviting national and international discussion on.

• Initiate and support NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGNS FOR CULTURAL RIGHTS.

This World Wide Web site is a joint effort by members of ACD to create a presence for the concepts of CULTURAL DEMOCRACY on the World Wide Web, and to link up with other cultural workers and activists across the planet.

It is our belief that the World Wide Web and other developing international and Internet related technologies hold the potential to be powerful and creative tools for communication and for international efforts for economic, social, cultural rights and justice.

We sincerely hope that this developing site will become a tool for communication and activism in the arts, in our communities, and around the planet, and help promote international communication and solidarity amongst artists and community/cultural activists no matter where we be.

Your input, suggestions, articles, art, and contributions to this site will help make it a dynamic source for organizing, dialogue, debate and activism.
