Part of its humanist ideology, the University is concerned that its students have a conscience about community problems. Through the instruction they receive, they are reminded of the obligation to serve both community and their country.

The Universidad Iberoamericana (Noroeste) was founded in Tijuana in 1981 with the philosophy of educating women and men as professionals to better understand the complex social situation in which they live in, and to develop a critical eye toward their role in society.
